No Fullscreen for SupertuxKart in Mint 12!?
I set my 4 year old son up a Frankenbox with Mint 11 a while back to put some kid-type games on for him... SupertuxKart is his favorite, and Mint has a PPA available in software sources which gives you add-on Karts and Tracks, so he HAS to stay with Mint (his words, no lie!).
Well, Mint 12 came out, and I reinstalled the wee man's OS, and fired up his games... Everything works fine except I can't change the resolution on STK at all. I can on every other game in Mint, and I can do it in STK on my Xubuntu rig... So I think it may be a bug specific to Mint 12 with STK.
Anyone else have this problem, or know of a work - around? Any input appreciated!

Re: No Fullscreen for SupertuxKart in Mint 12!?
g'dayyyyyyyyyy Max
hmmmmm...
try opening up a terminal and opening supertuxkart with the "-f" flag....
"supertuxkart -f" or "--f"
that "should" full screen it... then maybe there is a setting in the options to enable fullscreen each time?
I havn't got supertuxkart but if that don't work... there should be a config file in $(HOME)/.supertuxkart/ etc
maybe you will get lucky and find an option in the config file to enable fullscreen mode as a last resort...........
lemme know how it goes

Thanx for the input / suggestions... I will check Home for a config, and try opening in terminal with -f flag when I fire up the other box today...
(Incidentally, when I attempt to use the resolution settings and press 'apply', the game shuts down, and I have to reopen it. Res does not change.)

STK Oopdate!
Opened it in terminal with -f flag... Totally botched up the resolution on Gnome Shell, lol... I think GS is the problem... Going to go get XFCE (my fave anyway) and purge Gnome Smell from the little man's box...
P'raps that'll fix the problem.
Thanx again for the input!

Yep... Go get XFCE and then update, then UN-install Gnome Shell... It will also uninstall some parts of the Mint-Meta-DVD package, but those are easily replaced if desired.
The resolution options still don't work in STK with XFCE, but if you open with terminal -f, it won't jack up the res. on your desktop like it does with GS.

It's kinda weird... The resolution options in the game itself don't work, but if you open it up with the Terminal fullscreen it goes permanently fs. With Gnome Shell, the resolution of the taskbars, etc... would be all effed up when you exited the game... With XFCE, this is not the case.
Either way, the game plays fine, so my son is happy, I'm just picky about things.
I'm just going to wait for Mint 13 KDE or LXDE, and get the little man set up for three years, lol.
