Even though some of us were talking about this last nite in the chatroom thought I'de post it. I am a little worried about the future of Kde now that QT is in another companies hands who are in bed with microsoft..... It's reasons like this that I hate the fact that alot of Companies own projects in the opensource world.... cause they can be strategically manipulated or bribed with money to sell it to other companies who might not do a good job of continuing development on it.
But I suppose at the end of the day, the license nature of it allows it to be forked if worse comes to worse..... so I think all will be ok

Re: Nokia sells QT
Anyone is capable of contributing to an open source project so I think it takes more to do a poor job on open source software than proprietary. We already have a kde fork at the moment, so I guess we could just use that instead of the normal kde goes down the crapper like gnome did.

what, Trinity? thats the only Kde fork that I know of. It is still Qt but based on the 3xx series.
Kde won't go down the crapper... They have a hell of alot more resources than Most.....
The future will be interesting to see what happens though

Hmm this is a shame though not completely unexpected.
I agree and think KDE will be fine though, with the strength of it's license, devs and the community around it, not even MicroShaft could do too much damage to it IMO. At least not permanently anyway.
